"Consumption Strike"

I've been thinking about how things are going on.
Our lives are mortgaged. We have to work long hours to be able to buy things we don't really need. We are convinced by ads and the mass media that we won't be happy if we don't own a big car, a big house, the latest computer, mobile phone, designer clothes, perfume, ... But we are selling our time, that is, our life to get these things. And most people can't afford protesting against their working conditions going on strike because their lives are now on the hands of bank managers. No wonder European "politicians" want a 65-hour working week!
I think workers should become aware of their real power nowadays. We are workers but we are also comsumers. Most people cannot afford going on a labour strike but what about a consumption strike? We need a way to show our disagreement to how things are going on. Maybe this is what we shoud do. STOP CONSUMING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
